BRANDON, Fla. (AP) — A Tampa Bay area man has been charged with killing two women and setting a Brandon townhome on fire to cover up the murders.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reports that 24-year-old Charles Martinez was charged Friday with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of arson.
Martinez has been a person of interest since the October shooting deaths of 25-year-old Lindsay Nicole Green and 23-year-old Jennifer Kalb. He had reportedly lived at the town house with Green and Kalb in the past, but detectives didn’t have enough evidence to charge him with the women’s murders.
Martinez has been held on unrelated charges since October, and authorities say a witness finally came forward with information that made the new charges possible. Detectives weren’t immediately making that information public.
