JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Florida man convicted of attempted murder in a shooting over loud music ordered while in jail that his guns and ammunition be sold to pay for his defense.

Michael Dunn made the statement to his father in a series of taped phone calls and visits released Tuesday by prosecutors. Like all Duval County jail inmates, the 47-year-old was told the calls and visits would be recorded, with the exception of those involving attorneys.

Dunn was convicted Saturday of three counts of attempted murder, but the jury deadlocked on whether he murdered 17-year-old Jordan Davis.

Dunn fired two volleys of shots after he says Davis threatened him. Dunn also says he thought he saw a shotgun. Davis was killed by the first volley. None of his three friends was struck by the second.
