GULF BREEZE, Fla. (AP) — A Panhandle teen accused in the Christmas Eve stabbing and bludgeoning death of his mother will face charges in adult court.

State Attorney Bill Eddins tells The Associated Press he will file a second-degree murder charge Thursday and request the charge be upgraded to first-degree, premeditated murder by a grand jury in the coming weeks.

William Brandon Aydelott could face life in prison.

Eddins says the 17-year-old boy will be moved out of juvenile custody immediately.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office says the teen confessed to attacking and killing his mother late Tuesday after the two had an argument.
