NAVARRE, Fla. (AP) — Students, parents and teachers gathered to remember a Florida Panhandle who was brutally stabbed on Christmas Eve.

The gathering happened Sunday night at Holley-Navarre Middle School where Sharon Aydelott taught science. Police say her 17-year-old son Brandon beat and stabbed her Tuesday in her Gulf Breeze home.

The teenager has confessed to the killing. Last week prosecutors announced he will be tried as an adult and he was transferred from a juvenile facility to adult custody.

Fellow teachers and students took time Sunday to remember her during a vigil.

The Northwest Florida Daily News (http://bit.ly/18TpnuQ ) reports funeral services have been set for 2 p.m. Friday at Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola. A visitation is planned for 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
